Rescued Horses

We present to you a showcase of some of the horses that Rescue 100 Horses Foundation has had the pleasure of placing into forever homes. The first image(s) are of the horse shortly after arrival at the caretaking facility and the following image(s) are the same horse after settling into their new homes.

None of these images are retouched. Images are cropped and colour adjusted for brightness and contrast only. In some images, the faces of people have been blurred to ensure confidentiality of the adoptive owners.

  yearling.
Peso in 2010 – a 3 year old big, beautiful, palomino
quarter horse with lots of character.

Luna in her new home. She lives with Flossie.

Naia (Naimah)

Number 91 White

Naia battled lice and eventually lost most of the hair on
her head, neck and shoulder before her coat started to
return. Imagine, hairless in late winter.
Naia, like many of the horses, suffered from neglected
hooves. Her feet were turning in due to long term
  self-trimming and malnutrition.

Naia in her new home 10 days after having her son.
Naia and her son, Seraph. Both healthy and happy!

Nike

Number 5 White

Nike was one of two foals that were nursing primarily
from one mare. Apparently, the mother of one of the
foals was among the dead. Nike’s life was preserved
by a very loving mare. Nonetheless she was thin and
  infested with parasites.
A healthy Nike bonding with her people while enjoying
  a treat.

    Nike – the winged Greek
  goddess of victory. She is
  living up to her name.

Roxy

Number 60 White

Roxy after a month and a half of food and care!
Roxy home with her friend Coco.

Ruby Sky

Number 66 White

Ruby after almost a month of care.
Ruby transformed by care, love and a new person to
  call her own.

Saffiyah

Number 22 White

Saffiyah was so emaciated and weak when she came
to Rescue 100 Horses foundation that she had to be
handfed. She was so weak that she would literally
stand in this position for hours barely even moving.
Her eyes were sad and lost. We questioned if she
  would be able to survive.

Saffiyah would only move if a    person tried to touch her or to take the occassional bit  of hay.

  A stronger Saffiyah.

Saffiyah with her new forever friend.

Saffiyah in her new home; her health and appetite
  returned.

Salty

Number 3 Red

Salty was extremely thin. It took a long time to get him
to a good weight. He was among the horses that
Rescue 100 Horses Foundation had gelded.
Salty has found a home where he is deeply loved.

Slipper and Sugar (Slipperfoot and Sugarfoot)

Number 10 White

  Inseperable and deeply bonded
friends. Rescuers had to dig a path
to open the door to free them from
the chicken coop that they were
  housed in.

Slipperfoot earned her name. Sugarfoot, her miniature
friend, received his name as a tribute to a miniature
horse that appeared on the television series,
  ‘Heartland’.

Haltered, happy and together for the rest of their lives.
Sugarfoot will always be able to depend on his larger
friend Slipper. She protects him and hercomforts her.
    Inseperable.

Spice

Number 8 Blue

Spice arrived thin and suffering from parasites. She
was very shy and not at all accustomed to handing.
She didn’t know that people could mean good things.
Spice is now halterbroke, healthy and happy. She is in a
wonderful home with Jasmin and the grey gelding Salty.
(There are two rescued horses named Salty.)
